Family Documentation Pricing

Documentary family photography isn’t about a single session. It’s about preserving a season of life; how your family grows, changes, and moves through the year. Most families choose to document their lives over time, allowing for a more complete and lasting record.

Every session includes more than you might think.

The price reflects not just the time I spend with your family, but everything that surrounds it; the preparation before, and the care taken after.

  • Pre-session call (30 min) — We talk through your family, your home, what a typical day looks like, and what you're hoping to capture. This is how I show up prepared and make sure this type of documentary session is a right fit.

  • Travel (up to 2 hours) — All travel within one hour of Incline Village, NV is included at no extra charge.

  • The documentary photography session (1-2 hours) — Unhurried time with your family, documented as life unfolds.

  • Professional editing & curation (3–4 hrs) — I go through every frame, select the best, and give each delivered image individual attention: color, tone, and light treated with intention. You receive 30+ fully edited images, ready to print and share.

  • Light retouching (2–3 hrs)— Included on all delivered images.

Hi, I’m Callie.

I’m a mother to two young daughters, and it’s changed the way I see time. I live in Lake Tahoe, where I was also raised, and so much of my work is shaped by this place and the rhythm of life here.

I understand how quickly these years move, and how much meaning lives in the everyday moments that are easy to overlook while you’re in them.

I’m drawn to the parts of family life that often go unnoticed while they’re happening, the routines, the small interactions, the way a season of life quietly takes shape.

I grew up moving often, living in more than twenty homes before the age of twenty-one. That constant change shaped how I see the world, paying attention to people, to place, and to the subtle ways life unfolds in different environments.

That perspective is what I bring into my work with families.

I don’t direct or stage moments. I spend time with you as you are, at home or in a place that feels meaningful, observing and documenting what naturally unfolds. The rhythms of your life, the way your children move through the world, the interactions that happen without thinking.

The moments that might feel ordinary now, but won’t always be.

Before focusing on my own family documentary work, I spent several years working alongside a prominent celebrity portrait photographer in Los Angeles. In 2011, I founded CHROMA Visuals, a retouching studio where I’ve worked with major brands and public figures. I’ve also spent over a decade working with TED as a photographer and photo editor, and photographing weddings and documenting stories for clients around the world.

My background spans portraiture, travel, and post-production, and continues to shape a practice that is both technically refined and deeply observational.

My work has been exhibited internationally and recognized by organizations including PDN, the International Photography Awards, MIFA, and the Lucie Foundation.

I work with families locally and worldwide.

THE APPROACH

Documentary family photography isn't about posing for a portrait. It's about spending time together. In your home, or somewhere that feels meaningful, and letting what naturally unfolds be recorded.

The moments that feel ordinary now won't always be.

I don't direct or stage. I observe. The small interactions, the way your children move through the world, the routines that quietly shape a season of your life.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does a session actually look like?

I arrive and spend time with your family in motion: cooking dinner, playing outside, outdoor adventure, or bedtime routines. I work quietly in the background. Most families forget I'm there within 30 minutes, which is when the best pictures happen.

Do we need to clean up or dress up?

Not at all. Wear what you wear. Do what you do. The lived-in quality of real life is part of what makes these photographs meaningful.

What if my kids don't cooperate?

Kids not cooperating is often where the best photographs come from. I'm experienced working with children of all ages and temperaments.

Where do sessions take place?

Wherever feels most natural; at home, a favorite trail, a family cabin, on the lake, camping. Home is often where the most honest moments happen. We'll talk through the right location before your session.

How many photos will we receive?

Galleries are curated, not quantity-based. A typical session yields 30+ finished images. Every image delivered is one I stand behind; no near-duplicates, no filler.

What's the booking process?

Reach out via the contact form. We'll schedule a short call, and if it feels like the right fit, I'll send a contract and retainer invoice to hold your date (50% non refundable retainer - due on booking). The balance is due one week before your session.

How long until we receive our gallery?

Galleries are delivered within 4–6 weeks. Heirloom package clients receive priority turnaround.

Do you travel for sessions?

Yes. I work locally in Lake Tahoe, and travel worldwide for the right project. A travel fee applies outside my home areas (within 1 hour of Incline Village, NV); I'm happy to provide a custom quote.

What is a fine art print?

Prints produced on archival-quality paper, color-matched and quality-checked by me. Intended to last generations. Framing available for an additional fee.

Will our photos be shared publicly?

I understand the sensitivity around photographing children. Sharing work helps me find future families, but I will never post or publish images of your family without clear guidelines and approvals. Your comfort always comes before my portfolio.

Can I book a session as a gift?

Yes! Sessions make a meaningful gift for new parents or any family milestone. Reach out and I can put together a gift certificate.
